Phil Clifford

Exploration Consultant B.Sc., MAusIMM

Phil commenced work with PepinNini in 2004. He was previously employed as an exploration geologist by Rio Tinto Exploration for 15 years during which time he was involved in projects exploring for magmatic nickel, PGE's, gold, diamonds, base metals, uranium and coal. For 5 years he acted as Project Geologist and Team Leader of Rio Tinto's Giles Nickel Program and was responsible for establishing access to, and exploring, tenements within the Musgrave Province for magmatic nickel sulphides and PGEs associated with the Giles Complex, Broken Hill style base metals within the Birksgate Complex and diamonds.

Being the first modern explorers to secure exploration access to AP Land since the proclamation of the Pitjantjatjara Land Rights Act in 1981 the project team was faced with a variety of issues whilst developing an effective approach to exploration operations. PepinNini is fortunate to be able to benefit from Phil's exploration management experience in the Musgrave Province region of South Australia particularly from his established working relationships with APY administration, executive, anthropologists and legal representatives. His contact with traditional owners and resident community groups has also benefited PepinNini's exploration activity. As an active explorer in the area over the past 20 years he has developed an understanding of the potential opportunities that may exist and the most effective exploration approach to achieve success.
